The holiday season is a time for family, celebrating our Savior, cozy moments by the fireplace, and enjoying fun traditions. But it can also feel like a time when weight loss goals go on the back burner. Between Thanksgiving feasts, Christmas cookies, and endless gatherings, how do you stay on track?
Believe it or not, the holidays are actually the perfect time to prove to yourself that you can stick with your goals, even in the busiest and most food-filled season. Here’s how you can embrace a healthier holiday season without sacrificing the joy and celebration of this special time.
The holidays are filled with treats, but let’s break it down:
This isn’t about “all or nothing” thinking. Enjoy the moments that matter and get back to your healthy routines the next day. For example, if you indulge on Thanksgiving, don’t let it turn into four days of leftovers. Have your fun, then return to your non-negotiables like drinking water, eating whole foods, and staying active.
Why wait for January to start fresh? Set a fun and exciting fitness goal now to keep you motivated through the season:
When you’re working toward a goal, you’ll feel excited to move your body—even during the holidays!
Not all holiday foods are created equal. Spend some time thinking about what you really love and what you can skip.
For example:
You don’t have to eat everything just because it’s there. Prioritize the foods that bring you joy and leave the rest.
If Aunt Glenice insists you try her mashed potatoes, remember this: nobody else is fighting for your health. It’s okay to say no or set boundaries.
Here’s what you can do:
Your body is a temple, and you’re honoring Him by taking care of it.
The journey of weight loss and honoring your body as God’s temple is not meant to be done alone. Find a group of like-minded women who are working toward similar goals.
This is why I created Fit Moms Academy—a one-year group coaching program designed to help Christian women lose weight and honor their health while growing closer to God.
