Postpartum weight loss can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re a first-time mom or you’ve been through it multiple times, the journey of losing baby weight is never easy. As a mom of four, I’ve walked this road again and again—and I’ve discovered a simple four-phase approach that works.
This isn’t about chasing quick fixes or punishing yourself back into pre-baby jeans. It’s about building a lifestyle of health, confidence, and consistency that honors God and allows you to show up fully for your family.
The foundation of my postpartum weight loss journey always begins here. After each baby, I focus on:
You don’t have to start with intensity. Start with nourishment and simple movement.
Once my body feels ready, I add in targeted core work (I love Studio Bloom for postpartum recovery, and right now I’m enjoying Lindywell pilates). Along with that, I keep walking and layer in light resistance training.
This stage reminds me that losing baby weight isn’t about doing everything at once—it’s about building one habit on top of another.
In this phase, I increase the intensity with heavier resistance training and more structured workouts. Nutrition becomes a bigger focus too: I aim to include protein at every meal, fueling my body for recovery and strength.
For many Christian moms working on postpartum weight loss, this is where progress really starts to show. Not just on the scale, but in energy, strength, and confidence.
By this stage, it’s not about making drastic changes—it’s about refining. I pay closer attention to things like:
This phase takes patience and intentionality, but it’s also where the results compound.
No matter where you are in the baby weight loss journey, these principles are non-negotiable:
One of the biggest struggles with postpartum weight loss is knowing when to move forward. Too many moms get stuck in one phase forever, or they give up when progress slows.
The truth? It’s not about perfection. It’s about patience, perseverance, and leaning on God’s strength in the process.
Whether your newborn is in your arms right now or your “baby” is 20 years old, you can embrace a healthy lifestyle that makes you proud—and makes your Heavenly Father proud.
Postpartum weight loss is possible. But even more than that, freedom is possible. And it starts with small, faithful steps.
